The Sussex County housing market continues to show strength quarter after quarter, attracting the attention of home buyers and even home builders from not only the First State of Delaware but also many surrounding states.
One “gnu” home builder has recently set up shop in the Milton area, a short drive not only from the area beaches but also the Sussex County Seat of Georgetown.
Based in Baltimore, Gnu Homes has chosen to enter the local housing market with a new nine-home development dubbed “Donovan Heritage,” located off of Sand Hill Road in Milton.
It’s a niche market for the company, catering to both locals and visitors alike who want to enjoy all that the Delaware coast has to offer, but still be far enough away to enjoy the peace and tranquility of the countryside.
“When I meet with people and ask why they want to live here, that’s exactly the kind of answers that I usually get,” says Cindy McAuliffe, a long-time Rehoboth Beach resident who currently serves as the division president for Gnu Homes’ new outreach in southern Delaware. “They want a larger lot that’s not too far from the beaches, but they also want a good amount of privacy.”
The homes at Donovan Heritage will be nestled on lots that measure in size from three-quarters of an acre to a full acre, many of which have western exposures that allow front row seats for those famous southern Delaware sunsets.
The company is offering three different models to choose from, including a cottage, a ranger and a two-story home, all of which can accommodate a full basement.
The model home currently on-site is located at 26043 Mary’s Lane, with Open Houses planned for most weekends throughout the rest of summer and into the fall.
Both homes will be open Friday, October 11 through Monday, October 14, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The model home pictured above, the first one built at Donovan Heritage, boasts four bedrooms and three bathrooms and is nearly 2,900-square-feet in size.
It boats 10 foot ceilings on the first floor, an 8 foot front door, an eye-catching fireplace and upgraded window packages, including picture windows in the master bedroom that allow in an abundance of natural light.
The gourmet kitchen features upgraded cabinets, granite countertops and upgraded stainless steel appliances.
There’s also a full unfinished basement running the length of the home, with a walk-up stairwell affording easy access from the outside.
The second model home, pictured below, is located at 26052 Mary’s Lane and can also be viewed over the next few days.
