What great weather last weekend for the annual Sea Witch Halloween & Fiddler's Festival in Rehoboth Beach, always one of the best events of the year and one that has grown from very humble beginnings to an event that now receives regional and national recognition. And the most important thing – it's just a fun, family-friendly day at the Delaware beaches.
But with the Sea Witch balloons put away for another year and with the always popular Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival still a week away, this weekend features a collection of events that range from more Halloween-themed gatherings to a food-centered "throw down" at the convention center.

Boo-B-Que By The Sea Kansas City BBQ Competition (Oct. 30-31). This inaugural event is scheduled for Friday and Saturday at Delaware Seashore State Park and includes plenty of fun choices for the whole family. Included in the two-day festival are a barbecue competition, a jeep parade, trick or treating, a costume contest, amusement rides, live music, craft and food vendors, and much more. Cops and Goblins Halloween Festival (Oct. 31). Now here's a fun event for the family, scheduled for Saturday afternoon from 1-5, at John West Park in Ocean View. Featuring a magic show by the spectacular Dickens Theater, costume contests, local food options and more, this community event is sponsored by the Ocean View Police Department. S.O.S. Tour Trolley Ride & Walking Lantern Tour of Lewes (Oct. 24). This S.O.S. (Spooky on Saturdays) Tour begins Saturday at 4:30 and will feature many of the Lewes area's spookiest sites. These include the Lewes Ferry Terminal, which is built on top of an unknown sailors' gravesite, Saint Peter's Church and the Burton Ingram House. Octoberfest at the Beach (Oct. 30). Scheduled for the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center this Friday night beginning at 6 p.m., this event is a fundraiser for the Jefferson School in Georgetown and will be highlighted by a "Chef Showdown," featuring several local and accomplished chefs. Participants are from such local restaurants as Bluecoast, Dogfish Head Brewpub, Espuma, Lupo Italian Kitchen, Mio Fratello, the Pickled Pig Pub, and more. Celebrity judges for this year's event are Dana Herbert from TLC's Cake Boss and Nicole Gaffney from the Food Network. Visit www.jeffersonschool.com/events for more information on this annual event.
Haunted Halloween Attractions (Oct. 30-Nov. 1). There are many attractions scheduled for this Halloween weekend. Here are a few to consider:
The Haunted Forest at Roxana. Held at the Roxana Volunteer Fire Co., on Zion Church Road, on Friday and Saturday nights beginning at 6:30.
Screams at the Beach. Open on Friday and Saturday nights from 6:30 to 10:30, at the Sports at the Beach complex east of Georgetown, this popular attraction features five haunts in total, all centered around the haunted village of All Hallows. Visit www.screamsatthebeach.com for more information.
Slaughter House Farm and Stalkers Field. A popular haunted attraction each Halloween in Laurel, located not far from U.S. 13. Visit www.slaughterhousefarm.org for more information.
