One tip you’ll find in most self help and personal improvement books is that if you want to better yourself, look to imitate those who are more successful than you in that specific area.
And when it comes to self-made men, you won’t find anyone more successful than Amazon Founder Jeff Bezos. Now worth more than $116 billion, Bezos is responsible for founding the company that now rules the online marketplace and has revolutionized the way we do business on the Internet.
Most of us can learn from people like Jeff Bezos, if not for his business acumen then for his way of looking at life and leaping when others think better of it.
Living a life of no regrets, the Amazon founder hasn’t always been successful at everything he’s done. But it can certainly be argued than when he did succeed, he did so in a way that forever changed the world.
And he’s had an effect on our Founder and CEO Dustin Oldfather as well. Listen to Dustin’s thoughts on what he’s learned from the Internet mogul below.
As you can likely infer from Dustin’s comments, the key takeaway here is to do your best to live a life with no regrets. There are countless more people who pass on from this life regretting what they didn’t do, rather than what they did do.
As Bezos did when using his regret minimization formula (sounds like the title of a Big Bang Theory episode), consider what it is you’d like to do in life and then figure out a way to make it happen. You may succeed, you may fail, but at least you’ll have given it your best shot and not have any long lasting regrets.
As Dustin said in the video, this doesn’t have to involve a life changing decision or opportunity. It can be something as simple as making the most of your weekend by reading a book you’ve been wanting to read, or tending to your garden or even hopping in the car and visiting a long lost friend.
“Feed your spirit,” as Dustin likes to say, so you don’t have any regrets on Monday morning.
